Daughter

Daughter

by Dylan Hansen

My girl dreams of a night that’s full,
Moon beams scattered as ropes to pull,

Night rose glowing on a vine made spire,
And birds of prey nesting on a low fence pire,

Buds begin to bloom her crown of light,
Called to the forest is her turn to fight,

She may be chosen though I wish she shant,
Be her purpose in life with no one to supplant,

Blue blooms have awoken her sight,
To fight the ebb is a source of her might,

I wish she not go to the dark unknown,
That she’d stay here and be left alone,

She’s my child and one I will miss,
The higher calling we cannot dismiss,

Farewell my girl and stay safe always,
In the darkest of nights may you brighten the days.
